"I've been a member of the University Club for over 30 years, and eat lunch regularly at the Club.  I find that the food is first-rate and reasonably priced, the fellowship  and conversation among my table mates is enjoyable, and the atmosphere is relaxed and elegant.  The great part about dining at the Club is that I can walk over at noon and join a table with a lively mixture of members and conversations.  If I prefer, I can call ahead and reserve a table and bring business or social guests with me.

Over the years, I’ve enjoyed the Club unique and engaging social events, such as the holiday party, where we are entertained by carolers in vintage costumes, or the Valentine’s Day Gala, where we dine to the soft sounds of a jazz ensemble, and dance to classic swing.  More recently, younger professionals are joining the Club, and with them new activities, such as our wi-fi room, and seasonal sports night events.  I plan to be a member for the next 30 years and encourage others to join, too."

"When I joined a local business bank as the Vice President and Manager, it made sense to become a part of the University Club of Pasadena.  I am able to meet colleagues, entertain clients and associates and to participate in the many social activities the Club provides.

My wife and I have found that the numerous and varied themed dinner programs, such as the wine tasting night, the guest chef night, last year’s Olympic Night kick-off Chinese dinner, and the summer events held in the courtyard patio, are great opportunities to entertain friends and clients.

I am now the President of the Board of Governor’s and have enjoyed becoming more actively involved in the running of the organization.  The Club has several member committees open to participation to the entire membership.  These include the Social committee, the Food and Beverage committee, and the Membership committee, to name a few.  These are great ways for members to influence Club activities and to help make this a vibrant, active Club well into the future."

"I wanted to thank you once again for all your help & support. We couldn't have asked for a better and more professional team of staff to host our wedding reception. Thank you for accommodating all our needs and making our wedding day run so smoothly. All our guests were complimenting on the space, service, as well as the food. The photographers kept saying that they found a hidden gem and would be sharing about this Pasadena best kept secret with their clients. We will also be sharing about you guys with our friends and colleagues at Fuller.

Thank you very much again for everything. We couldn't have been more pleased with your service."

"I just wanted to thank you for such a lovely set up. It was perfect for our group. Everyone loved it. The sun room is adorable! It’s so good to know you have that room. Please tell the chef how delicious everything was. He did an outstanding job. The tea sandwiches were delicious and I loved the chicken salad."

"The University Club of Pasadena is a hidden gem for weddings in Los Angeles! After looking at many venues across LA that felt like overpriced wedding factories, we were excited to find a place that felt unique and inviting. It's a beautiful venue that offers flexibility and is budget friendly. The Club looks nice in photos, but in person you'll be blown away by its historic charm. It's located in Old Town Pasadena, near City Hall which we used a location for wedding photos. This place checked all the boxes for what we wanted from our wedding. We wanted 1 location for the ceremony and reception, which the club delivered. We had an outdoor ceremony on the covered patio with fountain because we married in July. The reception space is large; we seated 140 guests comfortably plus a large dance floor. A plus when we contracted in January 2015 was no difference in price for booking a Saturday versus a Friday or Sunday like most other venues. I don't recall a minimum charge being required when we booked, or if there was it was relatively low that we didn't notice. They host 1 event per day, no worries about sharing your space which includes a ceremony site, reception hall, bride's room, and groom's room. There are other rooms to explore and use for photo opps or childcare (which we did and our guests loved). Also included was valet for all guests and the choice of Chiavari chairs at no extra cost! This place seemed too good to be true. The food was AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS made by their in-house Chef Ali, who is very talented and guests raved about how great dinner tasted. Staff responds to emails and calls promptly and servers working our wedding were all very polite and nice. They were flexible with our needs and request which was so helpful with planning. There is a Westin hotel across the street where we and our guests stayed, you can walk across the street if you don't want to drive. The University Club of Pasadena is top notch, and we are so happy we got married here."

"Thank you so much for everything! I cannot believe them! But they really had a GREAT time and enjoyed everything. As long as I just let them do their thing they were happy and content!

I really hope to be able to work with you again as well, but if ever asked I will for sure refer...everything was so wonderful!

Thank you for the pictures too! I loved them!

Have an awesome week and we will talk soon!"

"The Rehearsal Dinner was a huge success with help of both Valerie and Jonathan and the rest of the University Club staff.

Much high praise for the wonderful dinner. It was outstanding.

Thank you again for taking such good care of us."

"Just a note to echo Lawrence's thank you. It all went as smoothly as it could have, even after all that long term planning (ha,ha). Seriously, you and your team were not only helpful, but also genuinely kind (how do you select for that?).

I have to tell you that many of the kids, being the polite guests they have been raised to be, pointed out what a "nice place" to have a party, as they thanked me personally (yes, one by one, as they left) for being invited to the party. I thought you might get a kick out of that.

I would only give the highest recommendations for you and your crew. Thanks again!"

Hi Jonathan,
I was just trying to catch up on thank you's - you beat me to it! The event was wonderful and the Club did a great job. Everything looked beautiful and worked well. Your staff was very attentive and as far as I know everyone got enough to eat and drink. We are so appreciative of all the planning and your attention to details.
FYI - the only thing I would change in the layout might be to pull the cake table out away from the wall so that the couple could stand behind it and all could watch them cut the cake - but then it would take space away from the floor. But, we had requested it against the wall, so this was not your fault in any way, but it might be something to mention to planners in the future. The altar table was beautiful in front of the window and it was truly a beautiful setting and ceremony. I would highly recommend suggesting this to future wedding parties if they want the ceremony in the main dining room. I was so impressed with how quickly your staff turned over the room - it truly was a magical evening. Thank you for helping make the magic happen!
Please let me and Aleta Hellwig know if there are any changes that need to be made in the invoice. Again, we so appreciate everything!
With much gratitude,
Marsha (& Aleta)
