Why I Joined the University Club of Pasadena

Jack Bonholtzer

I've been a member of the University Club for over 30 years, and eat lunch regularly at the Club.  I find that the food is first-rate and reasonably priced, the fellowship and conversation among my table mates is enjoyable, and the atmosphere is relaxed and elegant.  The great part about dining at the Club is that I can walk over at noon and join a table with a lively mixture of members and conversations.  If I prefer, I can call ahead and reserve a table and bring business or social guests with me.

Over the years, I’ve enjoyed the Club unique and engaging social events, such as the holiday party, where we are entertained by carolers in vintage costumes, or the Valentine’s Day Gala, where we dine to the soft sounds of a jazz ensemble, and dance to classic swing.  More recently, younger professionals are joining the Club, and with them new activities, such as our wi-fi room, and seasonal sports night events.  I plan to be a member for the next 30 years and encourage others to join, too.

Charles (Chuck) Carroll

When I joined a local business bank as the Vice President and Manager, it made sense to become a part of the University Club of Pasadena.  I am able to meet colleagues, entertain clients and associates and to participate in the many social activities the Club provides.

My wife and I have found that the numerous and varied themed dinner programs, such as the wine tasting night, the guest chef night, last year’s Olympic Night kick-off Chinese dinner, and the summer events held in the courtyard patio, are great opportunities to entertain friends and clients.

I am now the President of the Board of Governor’s and have enjoyed becoming more actively involved in the running of the organization.  The Club has several member committees open to participation to the entire membership.  These include the Social committee, the Food and Beverage committee, and the Membership committee, to name a few.  These are great ways for members to influence Club activities and to help make this a vibrant, active Club well into the future.
